No new Space Pirates material this time, I'm afraid: I've just started a full time summer job apple picking. It should last for the next four weeks or so, so maybe I'll have some more time then.
Monday 13th October
A graph of pauses between updates on this site would make interesting viewing...
anyway, another three chapters of Space Pirates have
been uploaded. Maybe we'll even see more! Who knows.
Sunday 29th October
Another Misting has joined the ranks: Part 1
and Part 2 of The Dark Side of Monkey Island.
Tuesday 17th October
Wow, a next-day update! Can't remember how long it's been since the last time
that happened... anyway, Chapter 55 of Space Pirates
is up. See you soon...
Monday 16th October
Let's keep it short and sweet... Chapter 54 of
Space Pirates is up, okay? Okay.
Friday 6th October
She'd been pregnant for a while now and her waters had just broken, so she
decided to go to the hospital. At the hospital there weren't any beds for
her in the maternity ward, so they sent her to Casualty. It was all very
hectic and noisy and confusing. She couldn't read the signs very well.
She tried asking someone but they told her to fix the plumbing. Finally she
got to Casualty. The ward was full of screams, people bleeding to death going
comatose on drugs or missing vital body parts. The staff were waiting for her
and they rushed her to a bed right in the middle of the screaming bleeding
people. Lots of people fussed around her and adjusted her bed. Somewhere
nearby it sounded like half the hospital was falling over, but the staff
didn't look worried. One of the nurses told her to spread her legs and start
pushing, so she did. Machines clattered and pinged around her and the bed
started shaking. Two nurses held it tight against the wall. People were dying
all over the place. Finally she felt something slide out of her. The doctor
knocked her on the head and she looked up. There in the doctor's hand, still
attached to her by its umbilical cord, was a ten-inch-long trout.
Congratulations madam, said the doctor, it's a trout! Then he kissed it like
Rex Hunt.
Ahem. Anyone still here? Well, as you've probably guessed by now, I've finally gotten around to updating. The new stuff is:
Monday 21st August
Bit of a milestone today, as Space Pirates reaches
Chapter 50! And you thought you'd never see the
day...
Other news... I've uploaded most of my MI fanfiction to fanfiction.net, as has Heather Oglevie of The Definitive Monkey Island Website. It's a general purpose fanfiction site with a huge database (almost 15,000 authors and 50,000 stories!) and it'd be great to see the Monkey Island section really expand. So if you've got a Monkey Island story, you know where to send it... (here, and then there!)
Monday 13th August
Drop the washing, put out the cat and hang up the bunting because
Space Pirates is back! Yes, Chapter
49 is up for your perusal. Don't worry if the pace seems slow, it's
definitely going somewhere...
If you've got a few spare hours, head over to The Definitive Monkey Island Website and check out their fanfiction section, because Heather Ogelvie has finished part Two of the Magic of Monkey Island trilogy, The Song of Monkey Island, and is already well into part Three. You're just missing out if you don't...
Friday 4th August
Well, we're back. A little later than expected, maybe. And what's new?
Well, I've done another MiSTing. This time I chose a
story not hosted on this site, The Doom of Monkey Island (go to
The World of Monkey
Island to see the original.) Unlike with my previous MiSTing, I wasn't
able to get in touch with the original author, so if you're reading this
Captain Spaz, let me know what you think.
Just on the World of Monkey Island: the fanfiction section has grown enormously recently. There's quite a few novellas and novels up there now, most of them pretty recent too. Check 'em out...
Monday 26th June
Nothing new this time around, and there won't be for a while, because
we here at LucasArts Fiction are going on a holiday. A real one. Four weeks
of sand, sun and no Internet access. Things should be back to normal by
the end of July though...
Tuesday 6th June
What happened to last week's update? Not telling, but don't worry, I've
uploaded Chapter 47 and 48
of Space Pirates, so we haven't fallen behind...
Tuesday 23rd May
Uploaded Chapter 46 of Space Pirates.
Um, forget everything I said last week. Also, since the long list of chapters
is getting a bit unwieldy, I've added a link to a text file
of the whole saga, so you can read the whole thing on your computer. This
will be updated as further chapters are added, of course.
But there's some bigger news to share - LucasArts Fiction now has another URL! Since this is one of the more popular sites on Fortunecity, the Fortunecity people decided to offer me my very own DNS address. Hence, you can now log onto LucasArts Fiction via the very pithy lucasfic.org. It's a redirection address, but unlike the old tsx.org, this one mirrors the whole site: so, for example, lucasfic.org/monkey1.htm will work just fine. A big thank you from me to the people at Fortunecity - they may have their ups and downs, but overall this is one of the best free website hosts on the net. Cheers guys...
Tuesday 16th May
Uploaded Chapter 45 of Space Pirates.
It's a bit longer than usual - I'm trying to write longer chapters instead
of the usual fifty lines a week.
Saturday 13th May
And we're back at last! Gee, you take a month off the web and when you get
back MI4's been announced... Should I do this more often?
All right, let's go over the new stuff:
Tuesday 7th March
Been a while since the last update, hasn't it? Well, nothing major today. Just Chapter 41 of Space Pirates. I think this might be an appropriate point to take a breather with Space Pirates, maybe for a month or so. If you like, this is the end of phase one. When our intrepid heroes return, nothing will quite the same again...
Thursday 17th February
There was a nice surprise in my mailbox a few days ago. Someone had
sent me a whole new Monkey Island novel, called Resurrection,
and wanted me to put it on my site. Well, that's what that new link
on the index page is. If you like it, mail Morpheus (follow the email
link). He's the author. Although I've posted Morpheus's work, let me
say this: the main place to send your monkey island fanfic is still
Monkey Fiction. I decided to
host Resurrection because it's novel sized, like
the stuff here, and pretty good. I might not do this in the future.
And, in other news, I've uploaded Chapter 40 of Space Pirates.
Wednesday 9th February
Uploaded Chapter 39 of Space
Pirates
Bizarre Fortunecity news dept.: Fortunecity has just recently introduced a chart of the top 100 Fortunecity sites for each week, and LucasArts Fiction this week turned up at number 58. However, nearby sites have such titles as My Home Page Title, This Property is Allocated, and I'm Moving In, and the whole thing is grouped under the heading The 1% Club, so there's definitely something strange going on. If I ever work out what, I'll let you know...
Friday 3rd February
Up goes Chapter 38 of Space
Pirates. I wonder if I should stop writing entries in here about
that serial...
Tuesday 31st January
Uploaded Chapter 37 of Space
Pirates. But the really big news... well, you probably won't care about
this much, but I just passed Ten Thousand Visitors!! A big Woohoo! from me,
and thanks very much to everybody's who's just popped in over the past
eighteen months or however long it's been. Be seeing you again...
Thursday 26th January
Another two chapters of Space Pirates up.
Here's where the fun really starts...
Friday 14th January
Well, Y2K has come and gone, and... no, I'm not going to say it.
Everyone's saying it. Just read The Spectre of Monkey
Island.
Since it's been a while since the last update, I've added four more chapters of Space Pirates. I hope this eternal cliffhanger ends soon...
But the real news around here, the news that's gone and brightened up everybody's day, is that Monkey Fiction has finally been resurrected. All your favourite stories are there, along with a very nice new design. New stories are always being accepted, so get typing guys...
Oh, and before I forget...The Definitive Monkey Island Website has updated with a stack of freshly unearthed fanfiction. It all looks very interesting...
